Christmas at Kemper
The Holiday Season is a very special, event filled time at Kemper Center. From the Christmas at Kemper Opening Gala Thanksgiving weekend to the Snowflake Jazz holiday bash through the tours of the Durkee Mansion decked in historic holiday splendor, many come to Kemper Center to enjoy the sights of the season.
The festivities begin with the Gallery of Trees Opening Night Gala. This event at the Anderson Arts Center showcases numerous professionally decorated trees, wreaths and mantlepieces that have been donated by area businesses and Kemper supporters which are then sold by silent auction to raise funds for Kemper. Other raffles and silent auctions also take place throughout the evening. This year’s gala takes place on Saturday, November 26 beginning at 6:00PM. Tickets are $25.00. The Gallery of Trees continues to be open for the general public through December 4 during regular Anderson Arts Center hours.
Swing into your holiday season with “Snowflake Jazz”, an extension of the Twilight Jazz Series and part of the Christmas at Kemper celebration. The Simmons Auditorium is transformed into a holiday jazz lounge for your listening and dancing pleasure. Culinary Christmas treats and beverages are available for your enjoyment. Snowflake Jazz this year takes place on Saturday, December 3. Doors open at 6:00 PM, the music begins at 7:00 PM.
The Durkee Mansion Historic Holiday continues the Christmas at Kemper festivities throughout the month of December. Come and tour the mansion to see it decorated for a Victorian Christmas. The Mansion is open weekends from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
