Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers provide essential support for both special events and the day to day operations at Kemper Center. There are opportunities to work as Greeters, Tour Guides, Gardeners, Clerical Help, Ticket Salespersons, Gift Shop Cashiers, and others. Please contact Volunteer Director Marianne Ironside at (262) 657-6005 or email her at marianne@kempercenter.com to volunteer and for further information.
Greeters are needed several days per week for both the Anderson Arts Center and Durkee Mansion. Opportunities are available at Anderson Arts Center on afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00, Tuesdays through Sundays when art shows are on display; and at the Durkee Mansion on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 from April through October. Two Greeters per session are used for both venues.
Tour Guides take school groups and bus tours through the Kemper campus and explain the both the history and current uses of the buildings and grounds. Guides are given training and a script to work from. Each spring, third graders from the Kenosha Unified School District tour Kemper Center, usually on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Classes are large, and two to four guides are necessary. Bus tours of 40 to 50 adults come from all over the midwest during the summer and fall months, and two guides are normally needed for these tours.
Gardeners work on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00. Come if you are available to help. There is no need to schedule to work as a gardener.
Clerical Help is needed to assist in answering phones, computer data entry, and mail campaigns. Please contact Marianne Ironside at (262) 657-6005 or email her at marianne@kempercenter.com for more information.
Ticket Salespersons are needed to sell both entry and raffle tickets at Kemper Events. Volunteers are needed for Gambling for the Arts in the spring, Twilight Jazz during the summer, Oktoberfest at Kemper and the Kemper Haunted House in the fall, and the Gallery of Trees Gala and Snowflake Jazz during the holiday season.
Anderson Arts Center can use volunteers to help with Exhibit Openings, Art Submissions & Pick Ups (set up and take down of exhibits), and Gift Shop Sales.
